Having a success tribe is an easy way to take the highway to success. A success tribe is essentially a group of people who work together towards a common goal. They encourage one another and supplement each other’s weaknesses with strengths.

But even if you have put together the “perfect” tribe, it doesn’t mean there won’t be hang-ups along the way. Sometimes maintaining cohesion amongst the members of a success tribe can be difficult. This is because there can be differences in personal approaches, personalities, and even cultural, social, and generational discrepancies.

If your success tribe is losing synergy at a rapid pace, you need to know how to kick things back into gear and maintain synergy. Here are our top 5 solutions for creating synergy!

Tip 1: Remind Everyone to Keep Their Eye on the Prize/Goal

Not everyone is going to get along. Some people within the success tribe may end up arguing about the way a project is handled. Others might end up in a feud over political beliefs or rude answers. However, one easy way to squash a quarrel is to remind everyone to keep their eye on the prize.

Remind your success tribe that they are all working together towards a common goal. Reminding them of what an incredible goal they’re seeking may be all that is necessary to get back on track.

Tip 2: Be the “Translator” Between Different Members of Your Team/Tribe

Not every argument is so easily fused. Sometimes, you really do need to play the middleman. If you’re dealing with two people who are incessantly fighting, then don’t be afraid to step in the middle and become a translator between members of your success tribe. They may simply need to hear it from someone else to come to an understanding.

Tip 3: De-Escalate Tensions

Again, sometimes disagreements aren’t going to be dissolved in an instant. If the argument seems to be escalating, you need to act fast and de-escalate tensions right away. Perhaps you move the two individuals to opposite sides of the room. Maybe you suddenly bring up a trip to get the crew donuts.

You know your success tribe better than anyone. Do what you think is best to de-escalate.

Tip 4: Praise Positive Actions and Give Constructive Criticism

When arguments are insinuating left and right, something needs to change. One great way to encourage synergy amongst your group is always to praise positive actions and behaviors. It doesn’t matter how old you get — positive praise will always have a significant impact and encourage other positive behaviors.

On the other hand, don’t be afraid to give constructive criticism, either. People need to know how they can handle a situation better for next time. Try and be as “nice” as possible as not to further aggravate the individual.

Tip 5: Don’t Be Afraid to Replace Someone

As a last resort, you need to replace the bad apple. Unfortunately, some people aren’t going to change or even manage their behaviors. If you’re dealing with someone difficult to work with and wasting everyone else’s time, energy, and efforts, it’s best to make a change. Replace negative people with positive ones to encourage success and synergy.

At the end of the day, it’s relatively simple: this is your tribe. Be in control. Keep everyone’s eyes on the prize and try to de-escalate and remedy situations when you can. Always praise your success tribe when they’re working positively together, and don’t be afraid to offer constructive criticism to help out your team.
